Nissan North America, Inc. is recalling 16,365 vehicles due to an error in software programming of the Airbag Control Unit (ACU). According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the passenger air bags could stop functioning if the vehicle battery becomes discharged. In the event of a crash, the air bags would not inflate, increasing the risk of injury to vehicle occupants. The recall includes the 2008 Infiniti EX35 and 2009 Nissan Murano.

Owners of the affected vehicles may contact Infinity or Nissan. Dealers will fix the error in the programming of the Airbag Control Unit when the recall begins.
