Blue Bird announced that they will be recalling 607 busses to fix a problem with the high pressure fuel line in the engine. According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the high pressure fuel line would crack and let the diesel fuel flow in to the engine compartment. If the diesel fuel vapor comes in contact with the ignition source, there is a possibility of fire in the engine compartment. The recall involves the All American rear engine school buses of the model year 2004-2007 and the 2006-2007 XCEL 102 commercial series transit busses that are equipped with Cummins ISC engine. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified of this recall and Cummins dealers would repair the defect free of charge. The recall is likely to begin on March 18, 2008.
