Ford Motor Co. is recalling 470,000 Mustangs because of faulty passenger side frontal airbags. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states the passenger-side frontal airbag would potentially deploy with greater force. This could increase the risk of a neck injury for a small passenger, seated without wearing a seatbelt. Reports indicate that the Mustang vehicles did not meet the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208. The recall covers nearly 435,000 vehicles in the United States manufactured between 2005-2008 model years. Owners will be notified of this recall through the Dearborn-based automaker and dealers will reprogram the software module free of charge.
