Honda Motor Co. has issued two separate recalls that affect 273,000 Acura TL vehicles of the model years 2004-2008. Honda states, high temperature underneath the engine hood could cause the power steering hose to crack and potentially leak steering fluid onto the catalytic converter, leading to smoke or possible fires under the hood. The second recall includes 129,000 Acura TL sports sedans from the 2004 and 2005 model years for a faulty circuit breaker inside the windshield wiper motor which may fail and prevent the wiper from operating. This defect could increase the risk of a crash. There have been no reports of fires or injuries due to either problem. Dealers will install a new heat-resistant power steering hose. With regard to the second recall, dealers will inspect the windshield wiper motor and replace the motor if they discover signs of corrosion.
