Car Seat Recall
As a result of increased safety awareness and recent regulations, most parents now use child safety seats. With a variety of different seats on the market, some have been discovered to be dangerous because of design problems.
Tire Recall
With millions of tires manufactured each year, a certain percentage of these have some form of either a manufacturing or design defect. Depending on the tire manufacturer’s corporate policy and the severity of the defect, sometimes recalls are issued.
Tread Separation
Due to the complexities in bonding steel belts to rubber, tread separations are a tragic consequence of modern steel-belted radials.
Tire Failure
Tires are one thing that many drivers don’t think about until there is a problem. When a tire goes flat, or suffers a blow-out, is when most people realize there is a problem.
Seat Belt Recall
Since the seat belt is arguably the most significant safety feature in a vehicle, design defects can cause serious injury to passengers during an accident.
Air Bag Injury
While air bags are designed to save lives and prevent injuries, they can also cause severe injuries. This is due to the massive amount of force exerted when an air bag deploys.
Tire Defect
When tires are manufactured many tests are performed to check for tire defects. Unfortunately, some tire defects do make it onto the market and onto consumer’s vehicles.
Seat Belt Injury
In the early 1960s, Congress placed a requirement on vehicle manufacturers to ensure that their seat belts met minimum federal safety standards.
Seat Belt Accidents
There have been many major technological advancements in vehicle safety. Arguably, the most effective piece of safety equipment is the seat belt.
Firestone Steeltex
In 2000, Firestone recalled nearly 14.4 million ATX, ATX II, and Wilderness AT tires. The recalled tires were linked to at least 271 deaths. Following this recall, Firestone tires were again in question.

General Tire Recall
In August 2002 Continental recalled 595,000 ContiTrac AW and General Grabber AW tires. These tires were primarily sold as original equipment on about 106,000 two-wheel drive Ford Expedition and Navigator SUVs.
Seat Belt Failure
Seat belts became mandatory equipment on automobiles in the late 1970s. Since then they have gone through many changes. Research into accidents and the forces applied to the passengers has prompted changes in the design of the systems.
