Chrysler is recalling 80,000 Dodge Nitro and Jeep Wrangler SUVs manufactured during the 2007 model year. The vehicles suffer from a defect in the power management system that could result in a momentary loss of electrical power to the vehicle. This can cause the engine to stall unexpectedly. NHTSA received complaints about the Jeep Wrangler stalling and opened a Defect Investigation back in May regarding the problem. Chrysler has since received many complaints and has issued this recall to correct the problem There has been one reported accident due to this defect and no reported injuries. Dealers will reprogram the power module to remove the potential for the loss of power. This service will be performed at no cost to the consumer.
