Ford to Recall 500,000 Escape SUVs

Ford has announced that it is recalling nearly 500,000 of its Escape SUV’s due to the potential for engine fires. Ford has received 50 reports complaining of engine fires. The fires are starting as a result of improperly installed ABS units. The seal on the units may be missing or was installed improperly, allowing moisture to enter the wiring harness resulting in a short and eventual fire. The recall affects the 2001 through 2004 model year Escape. Dealers will inspect and replace the defective ABS units free of charge.
