NHTSA Investigates Mercedes S Class Sedans

The Office of Defects Investigation has opened a preliminary evaluation following complaints of failed air suspension in some Mercedes Benz S Class sedans. According to the reports, the suspension failed allowing the body of the vehicle to contact the tires making it very difficult to steer the vehicle. This could cause a loss of control and potentially cause an accident. The investigation is for the 2000 and 2002 – 2004 S Class, the 2000 – 2004 S-600, the 2004 S430, the 2002 S500, the 2004 S55, the 2004 S-600, the 2002 – 2004 SL Class, the 2000 and 2003 – 2004 SL500, the 2003 – 2004 SL55 and the 2003 – 2004 SL600.
