The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an engineering analysis following reports of power window defects on the 2003 and 2004 model year Toyota's Matrix wagon, Corolla sedan and General Motor Corp.’s Pontiac Vibe. So far, more than 503 consumer complaints have been received by the NHTSA. Reports indicate that the power windows got stuck and in some cases, the windows shattered and caused popping noises during operation. The investigation would affect nearly 676,747 vehicles manufactured between 2003 through 2004. NHTSA is evaluating this issue to assess the cause and scope of the alleged defect.
