Not every vehicle on this list will have an open recall, so you may want to check to ensure yours does before you contact your local Ford dealership for repairs. You can check by entering your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in our Takata airbag recall search tool.

Do Not Drive 2006 Ford Rangers

Ford has issued a “Do Not Drive” warning for certain 2006 Ford Rangers after the second death of an occupant.

Ford has announced that it will send repair technicians to affected consumers’ houses, tow vehicles to local dealerships, and give out loaner vehicles free of charge.

The Importance of Getting Your Recalled Ford Airbag Repaired or Replaced

If your Ford has an open recall, you will want to contact your local dealership as soon as possible to schedule your repair or replacement. Ford will replace your airbag for free, and your dealership may even have a loaner car you can borrow while you wait.

According to the Ford website, dealerships do not have the parts available for all affected vehicles. For instance, as of March 9, 2018, dealerships reportedly have parts available for 2005-2014 Mustang driver-side and 2005-2006 Ford GT driver-side airbag inflator recalls. They also reportedly have parts available for interim repairs; however, it is important to note that while an interim repair will help keep you safe for the time being, you will need to replace the replacement at a later date.

Be sure to call for an appointment and find out whether your local dealership has the parts your vehicle needs.

Ford Airbag Recall Replacement Rates

As of March 9, 2018, only 720,000 airbags have been replaced, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In all, there were 1.51 million defective airbags installed in Ford vehicles.

This is important to note, because it means there are still more than 700,000 defective airbags in Ford vehicles in the United States. With this many recalled cars out there, injuries and deaths may continue to occur.
