Alex Gillen has a passion to help people who have been hurt by bad products or bad acts of others. His ultimate satisfaction comes when helping people get their lives back together, while his true disdain is when people have their lives torn apart because someone made a “business decision.” Alex’s drive comes by picturing himself or family in the shoes of his clients. He can then feel the confusion and powerlessness they feel as they try to understand why this has happened and are trying to rebuild their lives.
He also gives time as a volunteer to Teen Court in Orange County. His belief is that helping young people who have made mistakes should be able get their lives back on track, which is not only important for them but our community as well. For this, he was recognized by the Orange County Bar Association in 2010 with a Bronze Medal for Outstanding Pro Bono Service.
Alex has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star, National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, and Florida Trend Legal Elite. He received the Mickey Smiley award from the Florida Justice Association in 2012 for leadership and service to young lawyers in the State of Florida. As of 2011, he became a lifetime member of both the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He is currently on the Board of Directors for the Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association.
Alex obtained his law degree with honors from the University of Florida, where he also double-majored and obtained bachelor’s degrees in Public Relations and Business Administration.
Alex was born in Palm Beach Gardens and raised in DeLand, Florida. In his spare time, he enjoys activities on both ends of the spectrum; from reading to running marathons and triathlons.
