The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced a voluntary recall by both Graco Strollers and Dorel Asia Cribs, for unrelated reasons. Both companies have manufactured children’s products that either have caused or have the potential to cause serious injuries to young children. The CSPC and Graco Strollers are urging consumers to stop using any model strollers until they verify with Graco if their product is included in the recall. Dorel is also urging consumers to stop using all model cribs.
Graco has already recalled more than one million strollers, including their popular Alano and Spree brands. The company and the CPSC have received multiple reports of children suffering cuts and other injuries from the strollers, and some children have had their fingertips completely cut off.
Dorel has recalled more than 600,000 cribs, marking the second major crib recall in three months. In November, the CPSC announced the largest crib recall in U.S. history as Stork Craft recalled more than one million drop side cribs due to suffocation dangers. The Dorel recall is no different as one death and at least six injuries have been reported from suffocation and strangulation. The cribs feature a design that leaves enough space for a child’s head to become stuck. The Dorel cribs have been available since 2005.
