Toyota has been in the news for various reasons this year. The Japanese automaker issued multiple recalls and has been involved in a few major lawsuits. Among the recalls, Toyota recalled about 615,000 Sierra minivans due to issues with the gear shift lock solenoids last month. Now, Toyota is in the news again for another recall. Toyota announced a recall of approximately 10,000 vehicles due to issues with the windshield wipers, according to Edmunds.

The recall affects the 2014 Corolla, 2013 to 2014 Camry and Camry Hybrid, and 2013 Avalon and Avalon Hybrid models. A Toyota spokeswoman stated that “during manufacture of the wiper switch assembly in the involved vehicles, certain contacts on the switch terminal could have been manufactured incorrectly.” The automaker says the issue could lead to a “potential short if the wiper is moved from OFF to the mist setting.” This could make the wipers not work. Toyota reports that no injuries or accidents have occurred due to the wiper defect.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not posted any information about the recall or any recalls due to the government shutdown.

As part of the recall, Toyota will notify owners of the affected vehicles by first class mail of when they can take their vehicles to a Toyota dealer for replacement wiper switches. Toyota has not yet announced a start date for the recall. Consumers can contact Toyota at 800-331-4331.
