Consumers who were in the market for blenders these past few months may want to make sure they didn’t purchase a recently recalled model. For instance, the popular blender company Vitamix recalled approximately 165,000 blender containers due to a blade that could’ve potentially broken and posed a laceration hazard to the user of the blender. Similarly, another blender was recently recalled. Frigidaire is now recalling about 14,000 blenders due to a potentially defective blade shaft assembly that could result in consumer injuries.

According to the CPSC, “the blender’s blade shaft assembly can break during use, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.” To date, the company has received eight incident reports about the blade shaft assemblies breaking. However, there have been no reports about injuries from the blenders.

The recalled blenders, which are black and aluminum with clear glass containers, have the model number FPJB56B7MS with serial numbers between FFP 49 1203 0001 and FFP 49 1237 00974. Consumers can find the model and serial numbers on a serial plate located underneath the blender’s motor base. The recalled five-speed blenders also have a “Frigidaire Professional” label printed on the front base.

Priced at approximately $130, the blenders were sold at Best Buy, Target and other retail stores. Additionally, the recalled blenders were sold online at sites such as Amazon.com and Bedbath.com. The recalled blenders were sold from March 2012 through July 2013. Consumers can contact Frigidaire at 888-747-7637 from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. CT weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday and Sunday for instructions on how to receive a free replacement blender. Until then, consumers should immediately stop using the blenders.
