When a consumer product powered by electricity has defective wiring, it could be dangerous for both the consumer and the consumer’s home. Last December, more than 1,000 Jotul fireplace inserts were recalled due to potential fire and shock hazards because of defective wiring. This month, another company is issuing a similar recall. Angel’s Touch Collections, which distributes its products at the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, is recalling about 8,000 butterfly and shell-shaped lamps due to exposed wiring that poses shock and fire hazards.

The lamps feature Tiffany-style stained glass shades that look like either a seashell (with the model number SKU #416955) or a butterfly (model number SKU #416593). The SKU numbers are located on the product’s packaging. The seashell lamp model is 5.5 inches tall and the butterfly model is 10.5 inches tall. They weigh from 1.5 to 2 pounds. Both lamp models utilize a 7-watt type C bulb and have a plug-in cord with a cord-mounted on/off thumb-switch.

According to an article by Consumer Affairs, Angel’s Touch Collections claims that no injuries or incidents involving the recalled product have been reported. The lamps, which were manufactured in China, were sold exclusively at Cracker Barrel Old Country store locations nationwide and on its website at www.crackerbarrel.com from November 2012 through February 2013 for approximately $40.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the lights, unplug them and return them to any Cracker Barrel Old Country Store for a full refund. They can also mail them to Angel’s Touch Collections, 2732 Teaster Lane, Suite 119, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee 37868 for a complete refund, including shipping.

Angel’s Touch Collections can be contacted toll-free at (877) 474-2133 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or by email at ATCrecall@gmail.com.
