Cars included in the Takata airbag settlement are broken down to several vehicle manufacturers that have agreed to class action settlements for allegedly manufacturing vehicles that contained defective Takata airbag inflators. The following six automakers participated in the Takata airbag settlement:
- BMW
- Honda
- Mazda
- Nissan
- Subaru
- Toyota
You must be a current or former owner or lessee of a “subject vehicle” in order to receive the settlement benefits. Eligible class members may receive compensation for expenses, a rental vehicle while getting the recall repairs, and a potential residual distribution of up to $250.
Cars manufactured by BMW, Toyota, and four other automakers are part of the class action Takata airbag settlement.

Vehicles Included in the Class Action Settlement
Vehicles subject to the recall manufactured by the automakers listed above are “subject vehicles.” Your class eligibility will depend on the exact dates you owned or leased these vehicles. These settlements are also limited to vehicles distributed for sale or lease in the United States.
If you owned or leased a Honda/Acura subject vehicle on September 19, 2017, you are part of the class. If you previously owned or leased a Honda/Acura subject vehicle and sold or returned your leased vehicle after November 11, 2008, through September 19, 2017, you are a part of the class.
For all other automakers who reached class action settlements, you must have owned or leased a subject vehicle on June 9, 2017. Previous owners or lessees who sold or returned leased vehicles after April 11, 2013, through June 9, 2017, are also eligible for class membership.
Class Benefits You May Receive
Class members may file a claim for reimbursement of residual expenses or a residual distribution of up to $250. Sufficient funds pay the residual distributions at the end of the program year when available.
